Every May, Cannes hosts the world’s most glamorous film festival and the town becomes briefly impossible — rooms triple, restaurants vanish, the Croisette turns into a red-carpeted crush. The water, meanwhile, becomes the place to be: a bay full of superyachts, parties that glitter across the anchorage after dark, and the whole spectacle best appreciated with sea room and a cold glass.

The fortnight fills the Baie de Cannes with the season’s first great yacht gathering — charter giants off the Croisette, tenders shuttling gowns ashore, brand villas and pavilions lining the beach. A day boat threads it all at respectful speed: close enough to read the names on the sterns, free enough to break for a swim at the Lérins when the scene palls. The islands’ anchorage, twenty minutes out, stays gloriously indifferent to the whole affair.

For two weeks in May, Cannes is the most glamorous stretch of water in the world, and the bay is the best seat in it: the festival fleet at anchor, the Croisette pass for the photographs, lunch booked at La Guérite or aboard between the islands, home in the gold. It runs at the standard full-day rate on the prices page, and May dates go early — the Grand Prix shares the month, and the coast’s calendar bends around both.
The short answers
The Palais sits by the old port and the carpet faces the town, not the sea — the boat’s show is the bay itself: the fleet, the parties, the atmosphere. For premiere access you need festival accreditation; for the spectacle, you need exactly a deck.
