For four days in late May the world’s most famous street circuit runs along a harbour — which makes the water the grandstand. A boat off Monaco during Grand Prix week is one of sport’s great occasions: the sound bouncing off the buildings, the harbour packed with superyachts, and the strange joy of swimming in the Med while Formula 1 threads a city above you.

What you actually see and hear
Honesty first: from the water outside the port you are not reading pit boards. The circuit’s harbour-front sections — the chicane, Tabac, the swimming- pool complex — face the moored superyachts inside Port Hercule, and open-water boats hold off the harbour entrance. What you get is the event: the noise, which is physical; the helicopters; the fly-pasts; the city dressed for its one great day; and an anchorage of astonishing boats in every direction. Many guests pair the boat day with grandstand tickets on race day’s eve — practice days are the connoisseur’s choice, same sound, fraction of the crowd.
How our Grand Prix days run
We charter Grand Prix week at the standard full-day rate — detailed on the prices page — running from Beaulieu, ten minutes west of the principality. The classic shape: morning swim under Cap Ferrat while the coast is quiet, out to the Monaco water for the sessions you care about, lunch at anchor with the sound as soundtrack, and home before the harbour empties into the evening’s chaos. Being based next door, not in Monaco, is the whole trick — we come and go while the port queues.

These are the first dates in our calendar to go, every year, usually months out — the same is true of every hotel room from Nice to Menton. If the race is the reason for the trip, fix the boat when you fix the flights, and tell us your priorities: maximum spectacle, maximum swimming, or the balanced day most parties land on.
The short answers
Berths inside the port for race week are sold as hospitality years ahead at superyacht prices. Day charters watch from the water outside the harbour — which still delivers the sound, the atmosphere and the fleet, without the six-figure berth.
Late May, across a long weekend — practice and qualifying before race Sunday. The Cannes Film Festival overlaps the same fortnight, which is why May on this coast books like nowhere else on earth.
