the bay of festivals
Cannes & the islands: beach clubs of the festival bay.
Cannes runs its glamour along two waterlines — the Croisette’s manicured plages on one side, and across the bay the pine-shaded island tables of the Lérins, reachable only by boat. Together they make one of the great club days on the coast, and the water is the thread that ties it together.

lunch on the island
The island: La Guérite
On Île Sainte-Marguerite since 1935 and reachable only by water, La Guérite is the day’s main event: Greek-leaning feast plates under the pines, then the volume climbing until the whole terrace is dancing between the tables by late afternoon. It is the loudest, happiest lunch in the bay and the natural heart of a Lérins charter — book it with the boat and the anchorage is yours for the swim before and after.
The Croisette: Bâoli and the plages
Back across the water, the Croisette keeps its row of hotel and independent plages — Bâoli Beach the most celebrated for the lunch-into-evening arc, with La Môme Plage and its neighbours serving the classic white-parasol, feet-in-sand version. This is Cannes as the festival crowd lives it: photogenic, polished, and far more relaxed when you arrive from a tender rather than the boulevard traffic.
shall we put a date in?
We reply within the day
Across the cap: Juan-les-Pins
Round the Cap d’Antibes, Juan-les-Pins adds the literary chapter — Plage Belles Rives below the hotel where Fitzgerald wrote his Riviera, jazz in the pines behind, and a gentler, old-money afternoon on the sand. As a second stop after an island lunch, or the quiet alternative to the Croisette’s polish, it completes the bay — and the run between all three is twenty easy minutes on the water.
The short answers
That is the point of the bay — La Guérite exists only by water, and the Croisette and Juan-les-Pins plages all work with a tender drop. One charter day can thread two or three of them together.
Morning swim at the Lérins, the island lunch, a Croisette call if the evening asks for it. Staying in or near Cannes? The day simply begins there — we bring her to you. And if you are along the coast, the run down past the red Estérel is half the pleasure, home with the sun astern.
