the famous mile of sand

Pampelonne: every club on the legendary beach.

Five kilometres of pale sand outside Saint-Tropez carry more legend per metre than any beach on earth — and almost every great name on it keeps a pontoon, because the clientele it was built for arrives by sea. Here is the whole mile, club by club, from a crew that runs guests to it all season.

Pampelonne beach from the water at golden hour — parasols, daybeds and a pontoon into the shallows

the mile, from the sea

The legend: Club 55 and Tahiti

Club 55 is where it all began — feeding the beach since Vadim filmed Bardot in 1955, and still the hardest lunch table in August: crudités basket, grilled fish, cold Domaines Ott, sand floor, no music. Its refusal to change is the whole luxury. A little north, Tahiti Beach holds the other half of the founding myth — the fifties original that taught the Riviera what a beach club was. Between them they are Pampelonne’s old testament, and both are booked when your charter is.

The party end: Nikki, Bagatelle, Verde

Nikki Beach is the full production — white daybeds, champagne showers, the afternoon as spectacle. Bagatelle brings the Saint-Barth formula of lunch that becomes dancing on the tables, and Verde does the same arc with a sleeker, later-night polish. This is the end of the beach our party charters point at: arrive by pontoon around one, surrender the afternoon, and let the tender bring you home glowing.

The chic end: La Réserve à la Plage, Casa Amor, Loulou

For the day that wants glamour at a lower volume: La Réserve à la Plage does quiet perfection with a serious kitchen, Casa Amor layers boho linen and Mediterranean-meets-Tulum plates, and Loulou brings its arty Parisian cool to the sand. These are the tables for long conversations and longer rosé — the Pampelonne afternoon as a slow luxury rather than a crescendo.

And save a word for the corner of the map: around in the Baie des Canoubiers, Shellona throws its Greek-island afternoons — barefoot glamour, sparklers at dusk, and a bay made for arriving by boat. Technically not Pampelonne; spiritually essential. Whichever of the mile’s moods fits your party, name it when you book and the pontoon is expecting you.

The short answers

Tell us the afternoon you imagine — legendary and unchanged (Club 55), full party (Nikki, Bagatelle, Verde), or chic and unhurried (La Réserve à la Plage, Casa Amor, Loulou) — and we will match the table and time the day around it.

The clubs keep pontoons and tender service through the season: we anchor off the sand, the crew calls the club, and you step ashore dry — the entrance the beach was designed around.
